Chinn has a leap to make from FCS Southern Illinois to the NFL. But the Panthers look ready to allow it in the 1st season for the early 2nd-round pick. Chinn brings plenty of size -- 6'3, 225 pounds -- and testing 92nd-percentile or better in the 40, vertical and broad jump at the Combine. Chinn also posted strong numbers in college, including 6.4 tackles per game, 13 career INTs and 31 passes defensed.
Eric Reid ranked 2nd among fantasy DBs as Carolina's SS last season. The Panthers switched coaching staffs after that, so the role might not look exactly the same. But the team also watched MLB Luke Kuechly retire after the season. So this new, LB-sized safety will play behind a weakened LB corps -- and at the back of what looks like 1 of the NFL's weaker defenses.
Chinn carries big fantasy upside right away.
