It hasn’t always been pretty, but Goff has now finished as a top-12 fantasy QB in 3 straight seasons. 12th in 2017, 6th in 2018, 12th in 2019. Russell Wilson and Dak Prescott are the only other QBs to rank top 12 each of the last 3 years.
Now, playing 47 of 48 possible games over that stretch has certainly helped. Goff ranks just 18th in fantasy points per game among 40 QBs with 500+ pass attempts over the last 3 seasons. That’s a more accurate gauge of Goff’s fantasy value.
Goff ranks 7th among those 40 QBs in passing yards per game and 11th in TDs per game. But he’s 22nd in INTs per game and provides virtually nothing on the ground. Goff has totaled just 199 rushing yards with 5 TDs over the last 3 years.
Add it all up, and Goff has been a volatile weekly producer. He’s finished as a top-12 QB in 22 of those 47 games (47%) over the last 3 seasons. He’s turned in 11 top-5 weeks (23%) but ranked outside the top 20 in 12 games (26%).
Goff was a bit more reliable last year, finishing top 12 in 9 of 16 weeks (56%). That included 4 top-5 finishes. But he also had 5 weeks outside the top 25 QBs.
It’s worth noting that Goff closed the 2019 campaign with 5 straight top 15 weeks, including 3 top 9s. He ranked 5th at the position in total fantasy points during that span.
That coincided with TE Tyler Higbee’s breakout: 43 catches, 522 yards and…
