Elliott will get the 1st shot to take over for Earl Thomas after Baltimore dumped the moody veteran in late August. Elliott has played all of 40 defensive snaps in 2 seasons since arriving as a 6th-round pick out of Texas.
The 23-year-old brings decent size -- 6'1, 210 pounds -- but just average speed and explosiveness. He has won over teammates, however. Ravens players reportedly "clamored" for the young guy to get a shot even before Thomas got the boot (though while he was turning into a problem).
Elliott did deliver big plays in his lone full starting season in college. He racked up 8.5 tackles for loss (including 1.5 sacks), 6 INTs, 9 passes defensed, 2 TD returns and 3 forced fumbles in 2017.
Assuming he claims the job, Elliott will play mainly free safety. That spot in Baltimore hasn't delivered big fantasy numbers. But he has a chance to become a streaming option for IDP leagues that favor big plays over tackle production.
