It was no surprise that Donald failed to match his 2018 sack total last season. That'll happen after a 20.5-sack explosion. But his play didn't fall off. Donald led the league in tackles for loss for the 2nd straight season and reached 20 in that category for the 3rd time in the past 5 years. His 80 total pressures -- according to Pro Football Focus -- marked a big drop from 113 and 108 the previous 2 years. But his 2019 tally still tied for 6th in the league across positions. So it's not exactly reason to worry.
The biggest question here is what a change a DC means. The Rams moved on from 3 years of Wade Phillips to 1st-timer Brandon Staley. He's just 37 with 3 years of NFL coaching experience, but they came under Vic Fangio: 2 with the Bears and 2019 in Denver.
Staley will need to prove he's up to the job. But Donald has been too good to this point for a coaching change to alter his outlook.
