Redskins spent Monday night roughing up Romo
QB, Tony Romo
Redskins linebacker Keenan Robinson almost single-handedly ended the Dallas Cowboys season last night when he delivered a furious hit to Tony Romo’s surgically repaired back in the 3rd quarter. Romo crumpled to the turf as Cowboys fans and fantasy owners held their collective breaths.
Romo went back to the locker room for X-Rays and should have been done for the night, but the Cowboys some how allowed him to get back into the game. The beleaguered quarterback was obviously in pain and was ineffective upon his return as Dallas fell in overtime.
The Cowboys quarterback is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday, but believes he will be able to play on Sunday against the hard-hitting Arizona Cardinals who are coming to town. Romo’s availability for Week 9 might depend on his ability to tolerate pain and of course the results of his pending MRI.
WR, Brian Quick – OUT
Rams breakout wide receiver Brian Quick is done for the year and is scheduled to undergo season ending shoulder surgery. Quick tore his rotator cuff and dislocated his left shoulder in Sunday’s game against the Chiefs. Quick had an explosive start to the season, but his production had fallen off in recent weeks. His absence could slightly boost the fantasy potential for both Kenny Britt and Stedman Bailey.
TE, Jordan Cameron – OUT
The hits keep coming for Jordan Cameron owners as the tight end was knocked out of Sunday’s game against the Raiders with a concussion. This is his third concussion since 2012 and fantasy owners should not expect to see him back on the field for a couple of weeks. Obviously, the more concussions a player suffers, the harder it is for them to recover.
With the NFL’s current concussion protocol, Cameron could miss an extended period of time and fantasy owners should start looking for replacements immediately. The tight end has not been officially ruled out for Week 9 or Week 10, but do NOT be surprised if he misses both contests.
RB, Gio Bernard
Bengals running back Gio Bernard left Sunday’s game against the Ravens with a hip injury and never returned to the game. There’s no indication that Bernard will miss his next scheduled start against the visiting Jaguars, but his health should be of some concern to fantasy owners.
This is 3rd game in a row where Bernard has gotten banged up. There was even some question of whether or not he would play against the Ravens because of a rib injury. Fantasy owners would be wise to stash Jeremy Hill in case one of these injuries sidelines Bernard for a longer period of time.
RB, Doug Martin
Buccaneers running back Doug Martin was forced out of Sunday’s game against the Vikings with an ankle injury. Martin isn’t exactly blowing up for fantasy players this season and Tampa is looking to move him before the trading deadline. His ankle injury is not thought to be serious, but his fantasy shine wore off some time ago.
WR, Cordarrelle Patterson
Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson spent a night wearing a walking boot after bruising his ankle on Sunday game against the Buccaneers. Patterson assured the media that the boot was just a precaution and he is all systems go for the Vikings Week 9 matchup against the visiting Redskins who are playing on a short week.
WR, Nate Washington
The status for Titans wide receiver Nate Washington is up in the air for now. Tennessee reports that Washington sprained the AC joint in his shoulder on Sunday against the Titans. The Titans have a bye this week, which will give Washington additional time to heal. At this time, the injury is not considered serious.
WR, Robert Woods
Bills receiver Robert Woods suffered a back injury against the Jets during Week 9 and never returned to the game. So far, the Bills have not offered any updates about the extent of the injury, so there is little reason to suspect that he may miss any time. Fantasy Owners should check back later this week to see if he is practicing.
