Niners RB Joe Williams suffered a fractured rib and "deep" hip bruise in Saturday's game against the Texans, NBC Sports Bay Area reports. He's expected to remain sidelined into the regular season, though it's not yet clear how far.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that the Niners will place rookie RB Joe Williams on IR with an ankle injury. Williams did leave Thursday night's preseason finale with the injury, but we hadn't heard about it being serious. This move might be motivated at least in part by Williams' lack of readiness to contribute this season. We'll see about the official diagnosis on the ankle.
