Nick Foles Tops Week 9 Injury Report

It’s safe to drop Nick Foles in all fantasy formats

Quarterback

Nick Foles

Nick Foles is done for the fantasy football season and for all intents and purposes, is done for the NFL regular season as well. Foles will be out at least 6 weeks with a cracked collarbone that will probably NOT need surgery.

Losing a starting quarterback for a winning football team is often a recipe for disaster, but that’s NOT the case in Philadelphia. The Eagles made a very shrewd move during the offseason when they picked up Mark Sanchez and should be in fine form moving forward.

This is a stunning opportunity for Sanchez who will be plugged into a sophisticated Chip Kelly offense that is geared to score points and wreak havoc upon opposing defenses. This is a huge upgrade over the grade-school simpleton offense that Rex Ryan was running just up the road in Jersey.

If you have a middle-of-the road quarterback and are looking for an upgrade, you should definitely roll the dice and take a shot with Sanchez.

Tony Romo

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo made the trip to London this week, but he’s not a lock on Sunday to start against the Jaguars at Wembley Stadium. The Dallas coaching staff is very optimistic that Romo will be able to play, but they also thought he would be in the Week 9 lineup against the Cardinals. Fantasy owners should keep a close watch on Romo’s participation in practice this week.

Philip Rivers

Philip Rivers looked confounded and lost as his team was blanked by the Miami defense during Week 9. Rivers was taken out of the game and replaced by Kellen Clemens in the 3rd quarter as the game spiraled out of control. Rivers apparently banged up his hand during the contest, but is not expected to miss any time. The Chargers have a bye week anyway.

Running Back

Arian Foster

Arian Foster was forced out of the Eagles game during the 3rd quarter this past weekend with a strained groin. Foster had an MRI on Monday, but the Texans are not being forthcoming about the extent of the injury.

The Texans are heading into a bye week, but there’s no guarantee that Foster will be ready for Houston’s Week 11 road matchup against the Browns. Foster has suffered from soft tissue injuries in the past and has been slow to recover. Fantasy owners will likely be in the dark until Week 10 is in the books, but should be ready with a suitable replacement.

Lamar Miller

Dolphins running back Lamar Miller is dealing with a sprained AC joint but has NOT been ruled out for Miami’s Week 10 road game against the Lions. Even if Miller does play, it will be hard to trust him at less than 100 percent against a rested hard-nosed Detroit run defense. Fantasy owners need to follow his progress throughout the week as the Miller situation could turn into a dreaded game-time-decision.

Wide Receiver

Wes Welker

Broncos receiver Wes Welker is listed as day-to-day right now after being knocked out of Sunday’s tilt against the New England Patriots. Welker took a huge shot to the back after bungling a pass reception from Peyton Manning. The Broncos head down to Oakland for Week 10 and Welker’s status is up in the air.
