The terrible tale of the tight ends continues into Week 13 as several marquee names may be missing their games altogether.
Julius Thomas – Questionable (Sunday Night) Broncos tight end Julius Thomas is a full-blown game time decision. His gimpy ankle is not bouncing back as quickly as initially anticipated and Thomas was “limited” in practice on Thursday and Friday. The Broncos star tight end missed Week 12 and fantasy owners are on pins and needles to see if he will suit up for Sunday’s road matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. The reality is this, even if Thomas plays, he is not moving well and will play a limited role in the Broncos offense.
Charles Clay – Doubtful – Fantasy owners should NOT expect to see Dolphins tight end Charles Clay on the field for Miami’s Monday night’s road game against the Jets. Clay is dealing with knee and hamstring issues and is officially listed as “doubtful.” The team held him out of practice on Thursday and Friday and fantasy owners should be prepared for him to miss his second straight game in a row.
Dwayne Allen – OUT – Colts tight end Dwayne Allen is out for Week 13 with an ankle issue. Coby Fleener draws the start again and is a serviceable option at home against the Redskins.
Jordan Reed – Questionable – Redskins tight end Jordan Reed is making a quicker recovery than expected from a hamstring issue, but is still listed as questionable for today’s road game against the Colts. At this point, there’s no way to know how he will be used if he does play. He could be on a limited snap count or could just be used as a decoy.
Jordan Cameron – OUT – Browns tight end Jordan Cameron has already been ruled out for the team’s Week 13 road matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Cameron has been struggling to make his way through the NFL’s concussion protocol, but with 3 concussions since 2012, progress has been slow. Sadly for fantasy owners, he is no lock to be back on the field for Week 14 and could possibly miss the remainder of the season.
Jared Cook – Probable – Rams tight end Jared Cook has been bother by a sore back for a while now, but expect him to be a full participant at home against the visiting Raiders.
Shane Vereen – Questionable – If you have ever owned a Patriots running back, you know the highs and lows that Coach Bill Belichick delivers to fantasy owners on a weekly basis. Vereen was the lead back for the Pats last week although LeGarrette Blunt stole the show. Vereen hurt his ankle last week and is listed as questionable for today’s frigid game against the Packers at Lambeau Field.
Arian Foster – Probable – It appears that the long wait for fantasy owners is finally over as it appears that Arian Foster has finally moved past his nagging groin issue. Foster and the Texans are at home this week against an inept Titans run defense that should give up a ton of yards and scoring to the 28-year-old running back.
Jerick McKinnon – OUT – Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon is dealing with a back injury and will miss a juicy home game against a faltering Carolina defense. Without McKinnon, the backfield situation in Minnesota is a mess, but expect Matt Asiata to get the majority of work with a possible Ben Tate sighting.
Andre Ellington – Probable – Ellington is on the injury report pretty much every week. He has a very favorable road matchup against a porous Falcons defense. Make sure he’s in your lineup.
Lamar Miller – Probable – Lamar Miller practiced in full on Thursday and Friday and should be good to go on Monday night against a Jets defense that can’t get out of its own way.
Brandon LaFell – Questionable – Patriots wide receiver Brandon LaFell hurt his shoulder during Week 12 against the Lions. He was limited in practice this week, but is expected to take the field against the Packers at Lambeau. The weather is expected to be very cold and blustery and LaFell may not be playing up to the level fantasy owners have become accustomed to during the past two months.
Larry Fitzgerald – Questionable – Larry Fitzgerald is still dealing with a sprained MCL and his status for today’s game against the Atlanta Falcons is completely up in the air. Fitzgerald is nowhere close to 100% and would very “limited” if he plays at all. There’s also the risk that the team just uses him as a decoy against an inept Falcons defense.
Roddy White – Questionable – Roddy White missed Falcons practice all week with a bum ankle, but is said to be moving better as of Friday. He is likely to be a game time decision unless he is placed on the Inactive List before the game. (Around 11:35am)
